Nappy Roots

STORY

Underground Rap Group from Bowling Green, KY. They're best known for their hit 2002 single "Po' Folks".

The group consists of Milledgeville, Georgia native Fish Scales and Kentucky natives Skinny DeVille, B. Still & Ron Clutch. Oakland, CA native R. Prophet has left the group to pursue a solo career in 2007. Kentucky native Big V has left the group in 2012.

Formed in 1995 when they were students at Western Kentucky University. They released 3 albums independently and then were offered a major deal with Atlantic, under which they dropped 2 albums before going back to an independent career.

Some of the group's albums were critical & commercial success ("Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz", "Wooden Leather", "The Humdinger" & "The Pursuit of Nappyness"), so that Nappy Roots worked with big names such as Kanye West, Jazze Pha, David Banner, Raphael Saadiq, Lil Jon, Anthony Hamilton, Greg Street, or Outkast producers Organized Noize...

They were also featured on the soudtrack of a video game (Madden 2003), a film (LadyKillers, Columbia, 2004) & even a promotional video of the NFL team Cincinnati Bengals in 2018...
